Benito Mussolini
Benito Mussolini was born on July 29th 1883, in a town called Predappio. He came from a humble background, as his father was a blacksmith, thus being a catalyst for developing his socialist views from early on. With the job market lacking in prospective careers, Mussolini decided to move, anticipating more luck in Switzerland. He began to build a niche in socialist politics during his time in Switzerland, and in 1904 he moved back to Italy, with a new perspective on politics. He then became a journalist in a socialist newspaper, but a short while after he was drafted as a soldier in World War One, which ended up completely severing his ties with socialism. Mussolini found that anti-socialism support was easily gained, and through his initiative he organized the Fascist Party, known as "Fascisti" in 1919. With the assistance of his supporters, Benito Mussolini was able to gain control of Italy in 1922, and he reigned until he was captured in 1943. He was later executed, on April 28 1945. The reason Benito Mussolini was able to keep control of Italy for such a long period of time was his boisterous personality and tenacity. He was intelligent and charismatic enough to maintain significant power, despite the decline in political support.
